A Willful Woman…

Thoughts about books from a romance addict.

on October 27, 2013

I haven’t had much to say here or on Booklikes lately; I’m doing a lot of writing for other sites, which is cool but… it’s kind of terrifying how little reading I’m doing, other than for reviews. I mean, reading is what I do. I don’t even know myself these days. This too shall pass, or at least settle down; it’s just kind of a crazy patch.

I currently only have one review book in my pile that’s being published in December. Note to self: keep it that way.

Which is why I'd never read to review. I'd never read and anything I would have to read, I wouldn't enjoy.

I would never do it if I couldn't choose what to review, that would kill it for me. But as I've said before, there's a pleasure in deliberate reviewing. I think about the books in a different way, and I enjoy the writing. (And the feedback, when I get it.)

If you get to choose, then it remains for pleasure/entertainment. But to do it because someone gave you a book and said "read this"… reminds me of English class… ::shudders::

Miss Bates Reads Romance

Miss Bates is Austen's loquacious spinster in Emma. No doubt Miss Bates read romances ... here's what she would've thought of them.
