A Willful Woman…

Thoughts about books from a romance addict.

on December 3, 2013

I’m looking for a holiday book for this month’s TBR challenge and picked up one I’ve owned for a long time. Not sure if it originally came from paperbackswap or the library sale.

As I glanced through it, I discovered an advertising postcard I’d never seen before, which must have come with the book.

It’s interesting — the covers are similar in many ways, and I’m pretty sure it’s the same male cover model. Possibly both models are the same. But the first one is so cringey to me, while the second one is quite beautiful. This image doesn’t capture the colors on the postcard, but it has a soft, dreamy quality to it. While the first cover makes me think of horny Barbie dolls, if those words aren’t mutually exclusive.

I don’t  think of myself as someone who judges books by their covers, but I’m wishing the second book was the one I actually owned.

Got something to say?

Miss Bates Reads Romance

Miss Bates is Austen's loquacious spinster in Emma. No doubt Miss Bates read romances ... here's what she would've thought of them.
