A Willful Woman…

Thoughts about books from a romance addict.

Ideas For My 2017 Reading

If there’s one good thing about the current political climate, it’s that I’ve gotten back into historical romance. Yay escapism! So my 2017 plan is to focus on my favorite historical authors whose complete output I haven’t finished:

Laura Kinsale, Patricia Gaffney, Judith Ivory, Jo Goodman, Susan Carroll, Connie Brockway, Mary Balogh, Edith Layton.

I’m going to focus less on cleaning out my print books because I’m paranoid and worry about not being able to access my electronic books if some shit hits the fan. If all of it hits, I guess it won’t be an issue.

Previous years:

I have two rules for myself this year:

  1. Don’t start a fantasy series unless it’s finished. I’ve been regretting not following this plan for a few years now.
  2. Don’t download any books (including from the library) unless I truly have the time/interest to read them right away.

Notes for myself for those “what to read next?” moments.

Continue the Alphabet Challenge

Continue the Harlequin Presents Read – I think this is done, the books have gotten pretty dull.

Series to Finish: Coda series (caught up!) Prosperity, Immortals After Dark (caught up!), Fool’s Gold (pretty sure that ship has sailed), Lori Handiland(?), Magpie Lord (caught up!) Meljean Brook, Suleika Snyder (on the 3rd book), Emma Barry (on the 3rd book), Love Lessons (DNF’d 3rd book), Psy-Changelings (current book sounds totally med), Raven Boys (caught up!), Marissa Meyer (caught up!), Vorkosigan (1 book to go!)

Series to start: Two Gentleman of Altona (finished series!), Lynn Viehl, new Darynda Jones YA, (decided not to read),  Psy-changelings, Julie Kagawa, Bujold’s fantasy series, Sherry Thomas YA

Authors to catch up with: Jo Goodman, Laura Kinsale, Lorraine Heath, Cara McKenna, Pamela Morsi, Jeannie Lin, Charlotte Stein (made serious inroads), Molly O’Keefe (made serious inroads), Carolyn Crane (finished first series, did not get into romantic suspense series)

watch out for these audiobooks:

sequel to The Rook

Miss Bates Reads Romance

Miss Bates is Austen's loquacious spinster in Emma. No doubt Miss Bates read romances ... here's what she would've thought of them.
